  • Coping with and adjusting to chronic medical illness especially Chronic Pain, Cancer, and Gastrointestinal Disorders
  • Health Behavior Change
  • Anxiety Disorders (illness anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic disorder)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Behavioral Medicine Integration, Motivational Interviewing in health care settings

Research Interests

  • Developing group intervention to improve comorbid pain, insomnia, and depression.
  • Adapting behavioral interventions for use in the medical setting. Training other health professionals in the use of brief interventions.
  • Creating and implementing effective hospital-wide programs to increase availability of mental health services and to encourage positive health behavior change (e.g., stress management, pain management), especially geared toward underserved populations.
  • Examining the effectiveness of these interventions for improving access, well-being, and other relevant medical outcomes.
