The neurology consultation service resident rotation takes place during the PGY-I year and consists of three months. The service operates Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. This rotation covers all of the adult inpatient units including Medicine, Surgery, ICU, OB-GYN, Psychiatry, and the Emergency Room from 8:00am to 5:00pm except ER coverage which reverts to the on call resident at 1:00pm. The Neurology resident is the first to evaluate patients as requested by the various services. The resident then rounds with the attending on the consultation service at an agreed upon time each day, and all new consults are staffed by an attending neurologist. Patients will be followed up as needed. If outpatient clinic follow up is needed, the patient will be scheduled into the continuity clinic of the consult resident.
