Objectives:

By the end of this lecture series, the resident should:

  1. Have an understanding of the rationale for psychiatric diagnosis and how diagnoses are validated.
  2. Be familiar with the diagnostic criteria for major mental disorders
  3. Be familiar with basic epidemiology, genetics, and clinical presentation of major mental disorders
