The Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) service at the University of Chicago provides outpatient-based evaluation and treatment. ECT is most commonly used to treat severe mood disorders including Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. Treatments are performed in Center for Care and Discovery on an outpatient basis. Referrals for an evaluation for ECT should be made through our Psychiatric Intake line at 773-702-3858.   Inpatient ECT services are available at our affiliated inpatient unit at Northshore University Health System.
