Explore opportunities to volunteer for research studies focused on new and improved treatments.
Research volunteers play an essential role in helping researchers better understand health conditions and evaluate potential approaches to care. Review the studies below to learn more and find an opportunity that may be right for you. Many studies also provide compensation for your time and participation, although the amount and requirements vary by study.
Biotypes Course of Early Psychosis and Specialized Services (BICEPS)
Through the gathering of medical history, psychological tests, brain scans, eye movement, and brain physiological tests, this study will try to identify clinical and biological indicators of early-course psychotic disorders that could predict outcomes. The treatment is Coordinated Specialty Care.
The New Normal
People with certain mental health conditions often have to experiment with their doctor to find the best medicine and dose. This can take a lot of time! Let's work on using brain measures to predict which medicine will be most helpful.
Memory and Perception in Schizophrenia (MAPS) Laboratory.
We are interested in understanding why people with serious mental illness often experience problems with attention and memory. We use techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to examine the relationship between certain brain processes and performance on tasks of memory and attention. By understanding the brain-behavior relationship, we hope to one day be able to develop treatments that target those brain processes more effectively.
