Welcome to the Center for Psychiatric Genetics (CPG)

A partnership between UChicago Medicine and NorthShore University HealthSystem

The Center for Psychiatric Genetics (CPG) is home to the psychiatric genetic research program at the University of Chicago Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience, which focuses on studying the genetic factors contributing to schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders and behavioral traits.

Founded by Dr. Pablo V. Gejman, CPG is currently co-directed by Drs. Alan R. Sanders and Jubao Duan. The main thrust of CPG has been the design and implementation of large-scale, multi-site international studies, from systematic linkage scans to genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and, more recently, follow-up functional studies to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying genetic associations, as well as personalized medicine. The main approaches include GWAS, exome/genome sequencing, multi-omics, human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) models, genome editing, and single-cell genomics.

CPG is primarily supported by NorthShore University HealthSystem (NUH) and federal (NIH, National Institutes of Health) research grants.
